Cage Tips
"Tip: Cleanliness is very important for you and your parrot! We use the grate on the bottom of our cage so Adaya cannot reach her droppings. We do clean her cage daily, and that means the pan too! We do not use any type of litter, or newspaper as some recommend as I think the smell is to strong. We use fleece! Thats right. We cut sizes that fit the pans, and use it on top of her cage as well on all of her play stands. It doesnt pile, and nails dont get caught.. Of course we use different patterns too! We shake it out, and wash daily... NO smell! :) Added benefit, when we have visitors.... change quickly, no mess and everything is tidy and clean." Below are photos of Adaya's cage, playground, and play gym on top of her cage:
"Tip: Adaya was introduced to toys before arriving home, and we continued the process when she arrived home after weaning. We wanted her to feel comfortable with new experiences, and not fear changes. Each week, we rotate toys in her cage and on her stands. She has her favorites, yet is always quick to explore something new. We hide special treats she discover's while foraging in her toy bowl, or place a favorite nut she can see in her treasure box, or tied to a piece of leather. Remember, your parrot needs to be stimulated, and given things to do. Each parrot is different, and you will need to know your parrot, and what is comfortable for them . Change is very difficult for some parrots, and you will have to take things very slowly. "
